The Aleppo City Council and the Aga Khan Trust for Culture coordinate large scale heritage reconstruction of the UNESCO World Heritage Old City, managing restoration of the ancient citadel, 13 km of covered medieval souks — the longest in the world — and Umayyad-era mosques, while the municipality rebuilds water mains, power substations, and road surfaces across the returning city.

• The Aga Khan Trust for Culture, working with Aleppo municipality, is executing a phased multidecade restoration of the Old City's 800-year-old covered souks — at over 13 km the longest covered market complex in the world — assessing each vaulted stone section for structural damage and restoring traditional lime mortar construction using locally quarried materials and master craftsmen trained in Ayyubid building techniques.
• Aleppo's municipal engineering teams are rebuilding the city's water distribution network from the Quwayq River, coordinating with international aid agencies on pipe replacement, pumping station reconstruction, and leak detection sensor installation to restore reliable water access to the city's returning residents as part of a phased urban recovery programme.
