Take office as Mayor of Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand · 108 people · Megacity

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Flood Control Division and the Capital Securities Authority operate urban sponge park retention networks, deploy smart floodgates across canal grids, and retrofit khlong ferry piers with elevated flood safe boarding platforms.

The record Bangkok keeps on the Board of Mayors is still unwritten. Take office and write its opening chapter.

The city

Landmark: Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn).

• Known for its ornate shrines and vibrant street life, as well as being one of the world's top tourist destinations.
• The city's full ceremonial name, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon..., is the longest city name in the world.

How a term works

Take office and each day brings a live situation from the city's services: a decision to make and a result that is measured. A term is judged on approval, infrastructure, environment and innovation, within the city's budget, and every term adds to the record Bangkok keeps on the Board of Mayors. Mayors message and confer with one another, form councils, trade with neighbouring cities and send aid where it is needed. Cities rise together.
