Take office as Mayor of Geneva

Geneva, Switzerland · 200,000 people · Coastal City

The Lake Geneva Conservation Directorate and canton authorities operate geothermal deep lake cooling networks, manage zero emission electric water bus routes, and expand public solar grids.

The record Geneva keeps on the Board of Mayors is still unwritten. Take office and write its opening chapter.

The city

Landmark: Jet d'Eau & Palace of Nations.

• The Lake Geneva Conservation Directorate builds deep lake water loop intakes (GeniLac), cooling the regional United Nations blocks using 90% less electricity.
• The canton deploys electric hybrid water buses ("Mouettes") to provide clean, zero emission commuter lake transit across Lake Geneva.

How a term works

Take office and each day brings a live situation from the city's services: a decision to make and a result that is measured. A term is judged on approval, infrastructure, environment and innovation, within the city's budget, and every term adds to the record Geneva keeps on the Board of Mayors. Mayors message and confer with one another, form councils, trade with neighbouring cities and send aid where it is needed. Cities rise together.
