The city

Landmark: Pearling Path & Arad Fort.

• The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities successfully inscribed the Pearling Path—a 3.5 km trail of historic buildings—as a UNESCO World Heritage site, requiring the municipality to carefully regulate new construction to preserve the traditional urban fabric while accommodating tourist influx.
• The Muharraq Municipal Council works alongside the national Electricity and Water Authority to manage the high energy costs of desalination plants, implementing municipal water recycling programs and promoting drought resistant urban landscaping.

How a term works

Take office and every day brings a live situation from the city's services: a decision to make and a result that is measured. A term is scored on approval, infrastructure, environment and innovation, inside a real budget, and every mayor's work adds to Muharraq's own record on the Board of Mayors. You are not alone in office: message and chat with other mayors, form a council with friends, trade with nearby cities and send aid. Cities rise together: there is no losing city.
