Take office as Mayor of Sharjah

Sharjah, United Arab Emirates · 18 people · Heritage City

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority and the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) protect and restore the "Heart of Sharjah" historic district, fund extensive university city libraries, and design cultural arts venues.

The record Sharjah keeps on the Board of Mayors is still unwritten. Take office and write its opening chapter.

The city

Landmark: Sharjah Art Foundation & Heart of Sharjah.

• The Department of Town Planning and Survey deploys water saving landscape canopies and shaded pedestrian walkways across public heritage zones.
• Shurooq preserves historic adobe and coral stone quarters in the Heart of Sharjah, promoting traditional Emirati crafts and architecture.

How a term works

Take office and each day brings a live situation from the city's services: a decision to make and a result that is measured. A term is judged on approval, infrastructure, environment and innovation, within the city's budget, and every term adds to the record Sharjah keeps on the Board of Mayors. Mayors message and confer with one another, form councils, trade with neighbouring cities and send aid where it is needed. Cities rise together.
