The city

Landmark: Christchurch Botanic Gardens.

• The largest city in New Zealand's South Island, known as the "Garden City".
• Substantially rebuilt after a devastating earthquake struck the city centre in February 2011.

How a term works

Take office and every day brings a live situation from the city's services: a decision to make and a result that is measured. A term is scored on approval, infrastructure, environment and innovation, inside a real budget, and every mayor's work adds to Christchurch's own record on the Board of Mayors. You are not alone in office: message and chat with other mayors, form a council with friends, trade with nearby cities and send aid. Cities rise together: there is no losing city.
